We teach small group tower lessons of up to 4 students at our studio on Histon Road.
You will enjoy this class if you:
Want individualised guidance and attention in an intimate class setting of just 4 people.
Wish to build deeper core strength, flexibility, and spinal articulation.
Enjoy using spring resistance to assist stretch or add dynamic resistance.
Are looking to complement your Reformer or Matwork practice with specialised apparatus work.
To take this class you must:
Have had an introduction to our studio equipment (e.g., our tower intro series or private lessons).
Have previous experience of Pilates of at least one month either on the mat, reformer or full studio.
Be able to perform a double knee fold with control.
Be able to follow verbal and visual instructions.
Not be frail.
Be able to transition easily between floor, sitting, and standing positions.
Not require constant 1:1 attention for safety.
While the Reformer uses a moving carriage, the Tower provides a stable base with various options for springs which can be attached to loops, handles, a roll back bar or push through bar. This allows for entirely new ways to support your body compared to the mat and reformer - for example, one spring for each leg to identify and correct muscular imbalances, springs attached above the level of your body to help you to find lift and length, and standing spring work on a stable surface to safely introduce advanced exercises.
The tower’s springs can either support your body - allowing you to achieve deeper stretches and articulate the spine safely - or add challenging resistance to build functional strength. The small class size of max four participants ensures your teacher can tailor cues and adjustments specifically to your body.
Safety and a positive experience in every class are our top priorities. To maintain the high quality of our group sessions, we require new clients to be properly introduced to our studio equipment:
New to Pilates on the Tower, or needing a refresher: Our tower intro Series or a private lesson will equip you with proper technique and familiarise you with the apparatus for confidence when you join a group.
Experienced Practitioners: If you are injury-free and familiar with the Pilates tower, familiarise yourself with our specific tower setup and etiquette.
Injury Management: To ensure that you are familiar with any personal modifications, clients with active injuries must complete private lessons before joining a group class.
Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the best introduction for your needs. Our classes are 50 minutes and take place at our studio on Histon Road.
Wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to move freely and cover you appropriately throughout a range of movements—usually a t-shirt or vest and shorts or leggings. Avoid any clothing or jewellery with long parts that might get caught in the equipment springs. Please do not wear sharp jewellery or zips that might damage the upholstery.
We ask you to wear grip socks. You will not need trainers. As a courtesy to others, please wear clean clothes and avoid strong perfumes/lotions. Please bring water and a towel.
We do not have a changing area, so we expect you to arrive dressed for your workout.
