Job Description
What are we looking for?
Ease Pilates is a studio where everybody feels welcome and included, whatever their ability or experience. Our clients can always trust that they will receive high quality Pilates lessons and outstanding customer service. We value mobility, strength and fitness over superficial aesthetic goals and we come to work every day to help people change their lives through better movement! We are looking to grow our team with caring, fun and motivated individuals who support our ethos and are passionate about the unique benefits of Pilates. You will be integral to our goal to become a local centre of excellence for Pilates.
We welcome applications from comprehensively certified studio Pilates teachers. We believe in supporting your professional development, so if you are not already comprehensively qualified, we will consider applications from teachers who are qualified to teach Pilates on both the mat and the reformer, and who are working towards their comprehensive certification.
We have a career progression pathway from junior teacher, senior teacher to master teacher, with a starting salary of £26k FTE for newly qualified teachers rising to £33k + for a master teacher. If you are a teacher in training, or about to start your training we can offer paid hours (up to 15 hours per week) for work done at the studio, such as helping with membership enquiries and other administrative support, so that you can become fully immersed in the Ease Pilates ethos, become a familiar face to our clients, and be ready to hit the ground running as soon as you qualify!

As a Pilates teacher, we require someone who is passionate about empowering humans to love movement. We need someone who is
Good with people: empathic and driven by a desire to help people
Passionate about Pilates and movement: even if you aren’t already a qualified instructor
Punctual and with a strong work ethic: this role will involve weeknights or early mornings
Willing to learn and make mistakes: always seeking to learn and improve.
What skills do you need?
Pilates comprehensive certification (or training towards this).
Good communication skills: you will be talking with our clients, who are VERY important to us. You must be comfortable in-person and on the phone and know how to conduct yourself professionally, and deliver clear instructions to the clients. You must conduct yourself with excellent manners and professionalism
People skills and personality: you must LOVE working with people! This is a friendly studio and you must be able to reflect your members energy and enthusiasm while working with them.
If you have these additional skills, your CV will go right to the top of the stack (but if you don’t have these skills, you should still apply because they are not mandatory).
Previous class fitness or Pilates teaching experience
Certification from a member of the Society for the Pilates Method or Pilates Method Alliance
Comprehensive studio Pilates qualification
A degree in sports science, biomechanics, physiotherapy (or similar)
Qualifications in delivering exercise to specialist populations, such pre- and post-natal, low back pain, bone health and older adults.
Key responsibilities of the role (junior teacher)
Plan and deliver enjoyable and effective group reformer Pilates classes for a maximum of 8 participants and group mat Pilates classes for up to 10 participants, with the flexibility to incorporate your training style and knowledge.
Plan and deliver tailored 1:1 and duet private lessons, reacting and responding to how the clients' bodies present to you on the day of the lesson.
Go beyond the usual "turn up and teach" to provide excellent client care, following up both inside and outside of class where clients are struggling.
Cover additional classes where needed.
Get to know your clients strengths and limitations and adapt exercises accordingly for all class participants.
Demonstrate proper exercise instruction: provide safe and effective teaching, and motivation during each lesson. You should have a working knowledge of the human body (i.e. muscles, movements, functions, etc) and be able to provide appropriate exercises for the members in the class.
Support clients through their entire journey - from the first phone call, to helping with membership queries, to ongoing support and motivation.
Help to grow our community and online platforms.
To achieve balance in your work life, a full time teacher will expect to spend no more than 25 hours per week on average teaching, and the remaining hours will be spent planning, supporting our members and helping to run the studio. We have limited availability for freelance teachers, typically no more than 4 hours per week or cover opportunities. Job type
Freelance teacher. You must be registered as self-employed for tax purposes and run your own business. You will be paid a fixed rate for sessions taught.
