If you want authentic, full-method Pilates on the complete range of studio apparatus, in small groups as well as 1:1, Ease Pilates is the best Pilates studio in Cambridge for you. As far as we know, we are the only Cambridge studio offering both. That means comprehensively trained teachers, a fully equipped studio, and small group classes on mat, tower and reformer, alongside 1:1 lessons on the complete range of Pilates apparatus. Here is why we believe that, and who we think we are best for.
Ease Pilates is well established. Our studio opened in 2022, and I have been teaching Pilates in the Cambridge area since 2015.
Ease Pilates was named Best Pilates Studio in Cambridge for 2024 by Quality Business Awards, and has a 5.0 rating from 50 Google reviews.
As far as we know, other Cambridge studios tend to fall into one of two groups. Some teach the whole method, but 1:1 only, which is wonderful. Others offer group classes on the mat, the reformer, or both. Each approach suits different people.
As far as we know, Ease Pilates is the only studio in Cambridge that does both. You get the complete Pilates method, taught by comprehensively trained teachers, in small groups as well as 1:1.
Yes. We teach authentic Pilates: the real method, with its principles, its full repertoire and its apparatus. We love fitness too, but we believe Pilates and fitness are different things and should be kept separate. Our Pilates classes are always Pilates: we do not teach fitness on a reformer, and we do not water the method down to follow a trend.
The reformer is fashionable right now. We are not. That is not what we are about. We are here to teach Pilates properly, to people who want to move well for life. We were around before the reformer became fashionable, and we plan to stick around after!
1:1 lessons in person, on our full range of studio apparatus
Small group classes on mat, tower and reformer
Our mat classes have up to 10 people, so your teacher can see you, correct you and progress you. Private lessons are 1:1.
Ease Pilates offers private 1:1 Pilates lessons in Cambridge on our full range of studio apparatus. Lessons last 50 minutes. The apparatus is designed to support your body and help your movement, so 1:1 is a good place to start whether you are new to Pilates, recovering from injury or surgery, living with back pain, hypermobility, scoliosis or osteoporosis, or want a programme built around you.
The best way is a free, no-obligation consultation with one of our teachers, either in person or by phone. It is not a lesson. It is a discovery session to find out about your goals, injuries and limitations, and whether we are a good fit for each other. You can book it at www.easepilates.co.uk/consultation. We will then match you with the best teacher for you.
"Prior to joining I had a phone call with Jane where she inquired about the hip problems I've had and then in the classes, for any exercises that might be challenging for that area she pays extra attention and works with you to find the right amount of work." Madeleine R.
Yes, if you are new to Pilates and are in good general health. You can sign up straight to our Fundamentals programme, the first level of our group programme.
Fundamentals is a one-month, get yourself ready for class, movement programme for beginners. It includes:
50-minute classes of up to 4 students at our studio, using both mat and reformer
A personal movement assessment
Building blocks and modifications to make every exercise accessible to you
Short, guided online lessons to practise in your own time
We recommend four Fundamentals classes before joining a group reformer class, or a minimum of two before joining a mat class.
No previous experience of Pilates is needed. Fundamentals is designed for people who are free of injuries that affect their ability to exercise (this includes osteoporosis and pregnancy), can follow verbal and visual instructions, can easily get up and down from the floor, and can exercise safely without constant individual attention. If that is not you, or you are unsure, we recommend starting with 1:1 lessons. A free consultation is a good place to begin.
Your teacher will learn how you move and create an individual programme for you. Most people have between 4 and 10 lessons before joining a semi-private or group class, though it can be more or fewer depending on your circumstances.
"I first started with Jane after a big operation... she spoke to my physio and devised a plan to strengthen and build me back up. Basics such as how I walk were examined and we started with floor and standing based exercises." Sophie T.
Semi-private lessons follow on from 1:1 lessons. You follow your personalised programme under the supervision of your teacher.
Prices depend on the experience and qualifications of your teacher. Our current prices are always on our Times & Prices page.
Safety is built into how we run the studio. Our group classes run in levels (Fundamentals, then Levels 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4), each with prerequisites, so nobody is challenged beyond their ability. In a mixed-level group it is easy to be tempted by a "layer" of an exercise that is not right for you yet. Our structure removes that risk, and our teachers hold the line.
Yes. Our team includes teachers who specialise in:
Back pain
Bone health
Scoliosis
Pregnancy and post natal
Hypermobility
Older adults
Pilates is not one-size-fits-all, and neither are the people who walk through our door. Our teachers have completed comprehensive training with providers including Peak Pilates, Polestar Pilates, BASI and APPI. Our team includes a former physiotherapist and teachers with additional qualifications in osteoporosis, low back pain, hypermobility, older adults and women's health. Having specialist knowledge in-house means you are taught by someone who understands your body and your goals.
Because we believe in mentorship and continual learning. Ease Pilates is not a training school, but learning runs through everything we do.
We usually have one or two student teachers in the studio, assisting in and observing classes as part of their training. Many go on to join our team.
As studio owner, I stay closely involved in the continuing mentorship of every teacher on my team.
We host high-quality Pilates teacher trainers for workshops. In 2025 we hosted Peak Pilates PPC1, which is a classical comprehensive Pilates training programme.
The result is a team that keeps learning, and clients who benefit from it every time they come to class.
Clients regularly tell us they have fewer aches and pains. Many also notice unexpected improvements, such as everyday activities becoming easier.
Here is what some of them have written in their Google reviews.
"I have always had chronic neck and back pain (minor scoliosis)... It has led to significant improvements in mobility and has allowed me to go weeks without a trip to the physio. Jane is an extremely attentive and knowledgeable teacher who is skilled at designing lessons that are both therapeutic and appropriately challenging." Joy W.
"The teachers are all highly skilled with their own individual style and way of running their class. I particularly appreciated Jane and Vicki's care at the start and their guidance about what was appropriate for someone with osteoporosis." Jane M.
"Since starting group reformer sessions at Ease Pilates, focusing on strengthening my core and improving my flexibility, I am no longer troubled by chronic pain... Pilates sessions at Ease have transformed my quality of life." J.
"I have been struggling with hip pain for years and since joining her class it has decreased significantly... The small class sizes mean that she does this well for everyone in the group." Madeleine R.
"Jane's guidance meant I came away feeling like I had been exercised, but never beyond my ability." Sophie T.
"I really appreciate the small class sizes and feel that all the teachers are very knowledgeable and kind." Anne O.
